Councillor Watson: ready for the long haul
Mark Watson, Croydon councillor for Addiscombe ward, is walking 177 miles over 12 days along Offa’s Dyke path to raise money for charity.
He will be joined by his partner, Dr Martin Broadstock and will set off from Chepstow on Thursday, aiming to cover the 177 miles of the Wales-England border to Prestatyn.
The pair will be carrying full packs and aim to cover an average of 15 miles each day through some of the country’s most beautiful areas, including the Wye valley and the Black Mountains.
“In these difficult times we thought our holiday should be cheap, environmentally friendly and give something back to the community,” Watson said. “Although we enjoy walking, 177 miles is a challenge, particularly with a full pack.
“However we also hope to raise much need funds that can be used to improve the lives of people living with HIV in the UK.”
