South Norwood survivor of brain tumour publishes her story

A South Norwood resident, Claire Bullimore, has written her first book, to be published next month, about how she overcame a potentially life-threatening brain tumour.

Claire Bullimore: brain tumour survivor, now author

The book is called A Brain Tumour’s Travel Tale.

It revolves around how she was first diagnosed and the overcame all the obstacles her condition presented her.

“It was such a frightening experience,” Bullimore told Inside Croydon.

Bullimore was just 23 at the time, and on her daily commute to work one day in 2008. “I just fainted on the train, my vision became blurry, and I had an indescribable head ache. I just knew something was going on.

“‘When I was first told I had a tumour, I was in shock. It was life-changing, but I tried to remain positive, even though the doctors said that I wouldn’t make it. I thank God that I came through the surgery.

“I want this book to be a glimmer of hope for sufferers like me to let them know they are not alone and they don’t have to allow the tumour to ruin their lives. I want to be an example to let sufferers know that this doesn’t have to be the end but the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.”

A Brain Tumour’s Travel Tale will be available as an e-book from October. For more details, check out Bullimore’s online support network by clicking www.aunty-m-brain-tumours.co.uk.
