We are assured that florid-faced Mike Fisher, the leader of a Croydon Council which has stopped paying for lollipop ladies outside primary schools, which now wants to move on an inconvenient soup kitchen for the poor from near his £140 million Fisher’s Folly offices, and has decided it wants to stopped the modest grant towards the borough’s town twinning with Arnhem, was in no way whatsoever the inspiration behind the choice of Scrooge as the next screening for Cinema Ruskin on December 21.

Director Brian Desmond Hurst‘s 1951 adaptation of Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol is the suitably seasonal feature to be shown at Ruskin House, a week on Saturday.

The film is a classic of British cinema, and stars Alastair Sim as Ebeneezer Scrooge and Michael Hordern as Marley’s ghost, with a fine assemble cast which also includes a young George Cole.

Admission is just £2, including a raffle. All welcome (including children).

Premises open from 7pm for a 7.30pm screening.
