There is less than three weeks until the annual Lexus Croydon 10K road race runs into town.
This well-established event, staged by Croydon Harriers, is one of the most popular road races held in the region, and will see up to 500 runners taking to the streets on the morning of Sunday, October 18.
Previous winners of the race include Australian Olympic runner Lee Troop, James Thie, the British international, and most recently Croydon’s own junior international cross-country runner, Peter Chambers.
The one-lap 10-kilometre race – a little more than six miles – starts at Lloyd Park Avenue before heading up into the Shirley Hills, then to Sandilands and heading back to the park for the finish. As well as individual races for men and women, and veterans up to 70-plus, there’s also a corporate team challenge.
Runners of all abilities are always welcome to enter.
For budding young athletes there is also the 3-kilometre fun run for 9-to-14-year-olds.
