Croydon Philharmonic Choir is holding three open rehearsals next month and is inviting anyone interested in joining the choir to take part in one or more rehearsals, giving them the opportunity to find out more about the choir and its style and repertoire.
The choir is the largest and the longest-established in Croydon, having been founded in 1914 and now with around 100 members. It sings choral set-pieces from the classic repertoire, such as the great Requiems by Mozart and Verdi, as well as modern selections from show business and jazz.
The choir has a highly experienced and inspirational music director, David Gibson, and prides itself on the high standards it sets.
It also considers itself a friendly and inclusive choir, and its members have a wide range of experience and expertise. Not all can read music so that is no impediment to joining.
The choir begins its 2016-2017 season in September and the three open rehearsals are Tuesday September 6, 13 and 20. They are at St Matthew’s Church in Chichester Road and run from 7.15pm to 9.30pm with a 15-minute break around 8.30.
Anyone interested in finding out more can call 020 8654 9208. Or they can just turn up at St Matthew’s, preferably around 7pm. They can be sure of a warm welcome and will be introduced to members of the appropriate voice section.
