Win a £22,000 Lexus at Mayor’s charity golf day, Mar 29

You could win yourself a new car at the Mayor of Croydon’s charity golf day next month. All you have to do is hit a hole in one.

4th-hole-farleighComing towards the end of Councillor Wayne Trakas-Lawlor’s year in office as Mayor of Croydon, he is obviously keen to raise as much money for his nominated causes, British Homes, Croydon Commitment and Stanley Halls.

And sponsorship from Lexus Croydon means that the event, being held at Farleigh Golf Club on March 29, can offer one of the car manufacturers’ latest hybrid models as a special prize for the first person (like they’re expecting there to be more than one) to hit a hole in one on one of the course’s red holes.

Farleigh’s layout is unusual in respect of having 27 holes, laid out in three nine-hole loops (red, blue and yellow), allowing its regular golfers to vary their chosen round. At around 100 yards on the red loop, it makes the par 3 4th seem likely to focus players’ attention at the Mayor of Croydon’s golf day.

Trakas-Lawlor’s councillor colleague, John Wentworth, after years of honing his swing at Denis Thatcher’s favourite golf course, fancies his chances of picking up the keys to a new motor.

The all-day event is open to all-comers, and includes breakfast and a social dinner after the round, with the opportunity for other businesses to sponsor aspects of the day, and proceeds going into the charity pot.
