Ayckbourn’s Confusions, Upper Norwood, May 11-13

Confusions by Alan Ayckbourn is five interlinked plays that explore the human condition and all its eccentricity.

Presented by the Downsview Players on May 11, 12 and 13 in Upper Norwood, Confusions is one of Ayckbourn’s most well-known plays. Five scenes take us through a series of somewhat dysfunctional situations: from the loneliness of a mother unable to escape from baby talk, to a painfully unsuccessful seduction attempt; a fate-fraught dinner encounter, to a thunderously disastrous fete overflowing with tea.

Finally, we step into a tranquil park scene where five souls vie for each other’s attention – failed only by their own inability to listen.

With some 20 characters played by 13 actors, it’s one of Downsview’s most ambitious productions to date.

Venue: Downsview Methodist Church Hall, Waddington Way, Upper Norwood, SE19 3XH
