Following months of campaigning for change on Sutton Council in May, Labour’s local election candidates for Sutton West ward are holding a series of public meetings.

The events will provide an opportunity for local residents to meet with the candidates ahead of the elections and hear more about Sutton Labour’s manifesto pledges ahead of the election on May 3.

Copies of Sutton Labour’s election manifesto will be available.

The meetings will take place:

April 10 – 7pm – St Albans the Martyr Church, Gander Green Lane
April 28 – 10am – St Albans the Martyr Church, Gander Green Lane
May 1 – 7pm – Sutton Cricket Club, Gander Green Lane

Residents will also have the opportunity to hear from guest speakers about the benefits of electing Labour councillors, able to advocate for local people about the issues that matter to them.

Labour’s candidates for Sutton West have been named as Andy Cook, Laura Mullaney and Christopher Woolmer.

Cook is a resident in the ward and a local business owner. He has a daughter at school in the borough and is a season ticket-holder at Sutton United.

Mullaney was born and went to school in Sutton, where she still lives. She is passionate about protecting acute services at St Helier Hospital, where she was born.

Woolmer is a music teacher who also campaigns on environmental issues and has a strong interest in community issues.

All three will be at the public meetings, and Cook said, “We’ve had a great response on the campaign trail so far, and we’d like to extend the discussion further, with the aim being to meet as many local people as possible to share with them our vision for change in Sutton if we’re elected in May.”
