Two Brewers charity fund-raiser for Scarlett Hewitt, Jun 9

The Two Brewers pub on Gloucester Road, not far from Selhurst Park, is staging a World Cup Party on June 9 as a charity fund-raisers towards the ongoing treatment costs for Scarlett Hewitt.

Scarlett Hewitt: charity appeal to help to pay her treatment costs

Scarlett is a young Croydon girl who has cerebral palsy. Scarlett had an SDR operation in America and is now on an intensive rehabilitation programme.

Ultimately the success of the operations depend upon whether or not she continues private physiotherapy treatment and hydrotherapy, which cost £100 per hour session and physiotherapy courses in Wales that vary from £400 to £1,000 per course.

Scarlett’s ongoing fundraising is due to the fact that none of her rehabilitation is funded by the NHS, due to the cost, so it leaves the family relying on fund-raising from their amazing supporters that have done and achieved so much. They are massively grateful to everyone who has supported Scarlett.

Scarlett having regular care is the difference between her being able walk or being dependent on her wheelchair.

All funds raised on the day will go towards Scarlett’s long-term rehabilitation to help strengthen her muscles and one day enable her to walk independently, and maybe see her walking back on to the pitch at Selhurst Park!

There will be a BBQ and face painting from 2pm, and at 5pm the England v West Germany World Cup Final from 1966 will be shown.

There will be a raffle during the day and an auction after the game.

“It would be wonderful to see as many people there as possible supporting this brave young girl and great local cause,” the organisers said.
