It’s a case of Night and Day at Screen25’s comedy shows

Not content with staging live music linked to their screenings, Screen25, South Norwood’s community cinema, has now announced plans to stage live comedians.

Kevin Day: coming live to a cinema screening near you

Well, Kevin Day.

Boom! Tish! (We’re here all week…).

Day, the funniest thing to come out of Selhurst Park for a very long time (with the exception of Christian Benteke), is the star turn at Harris Academy South Norwood on January 11, part of the Croydon Comedy Festival, when he is the warm-up act for Joel McCrea and Veronica Lake in a screening of the 1940s movie Sullivan’s Travels.

Screen25 – which offers a special £2 discount on tickets for subscribers to Inside Croydon – has now made tickets available for all its screenings through to mid-January, including one or two additional shows for this month.

Day’s performance is part of a collaboration with The David Lean Cinema and the Croydon Comedy Festival to present a season of laughs. Sullivan’s Travels is Day’s specially selected cult classic comedy.

In December, award-winning comedian and Radio 1 host Ed Night will be  performing with a set from the Edinburgh Fringe before his chosen movie, The Good Burger.

Screen25’s Christmas classic screenings include Elf and It’s a Wonderful Life. There may even be mulled wine available…
