Croydon Town Hall this coming Friday, February 22, will be buzzing with live music, speakers and workshops, as it hosts the first Youth Convention, a free day of entertainment and personal growth for young people, organised by the Duffus Cancer Foundation.
The Duffus Youth Convention is offering a wide range of activities this Friday
From boxing and dance sessions to creative writing, the aim of the day is to support young people’s wellbeing.
Acts on the day include Beats and Eats DJ workshops, Chris Lewis (award-winning global speaker) and Gloves not Gunz (tackling youth violence and crime through boxing).
The Convention will be operating from 11am-4pm with refreshments available.
“It’s been really exciting preparing for this event,” said Grace Lynch, the project co-ordinator. “We are looking forward to meeting everyone for a great day of workshops, live performances and most importantly, fun!”
The Duffus Cancer Foundation was formed in 2017 when the charity’s founder, Leroy Duffus, formed a committee to support young people across south London who have experienced the devastation that cancer can bring.

Duffus lost his life to cancer last September.
The Youth Convention is aimed at steering away from youth crime by providing young people with the opportunity to engage in constructive activities and develop positive hobbies and interests. The event is open to all.
With funding from the National Lottery Community Fund, DCF is able to provide activities to support a positive mental health.
“We are thrilled to be hosting the first event of its kind in Croydon. Our staff and volunteers have been working hard to make this event a success and we are looking forward to making our dream a reality,” said Brian Duffus, a trustee of the charity.
