TfL issues revised bus diversions for Godstone Road closure

The closure of the A22 Godstone Road, originally planned to begin yesterday and to last approximately three months, as first highlighted by Inside Croydon, has now been postponed by a week.

It’s all change on bus routes around Purley for the next three months

The works, being carried out around the clock while a quarter-mile section from Purley Cross to Dale Road is blocked off, are being undertaken to fit a new water main. They will now begin on Tuesday, May 26 (we’ve go another lockdown Bank Holiday on Monday).

Transport for London has taken the delay as an opportunity to alter their bus diversions for 407, 412 and 434.

In a service note issued by TfL yesterday, they say that the road closure is to last at least until July 13. During that period, the 407 route will now be split Sutton to Purley and Caterham to Purley.

Both the 407 Caterham section and the 412 will terminate at the rear of Purley Station.

For the 434 towards Whyteleafe: from Foxley Lane junction of Purley Cross third exit onto Brighton Road towards Coulsdon, left Old Lodge Lane, left Old Lodge Lane, left Burcott Road, left Higher Drive, right Northwood Avenue picking up normal line of route.

For the 434 towards Coulsdon: from Northwood Avenue junction of Higher Drive, left Higher Drive, right Bencombe Road, right Old Lodge Lane, right to stay on Old Lodge Lane right Brighton Road, at Purley Cross, right and serve Purley Tesco stop and pick up normal line of route.

Separately, from the end of May, bus routes 166 and 412 will return to full weekday schedules Monday to Friday.

As it looks like the new shopping centre not being built for the foreseeable future is there any chance in the 412 to West Croydon being reinstated?

  2. jazzerpete says:

And the 405 and other routes that were curtailed in a completely ridiculous change. Before lockdown it caused many problems and when we revert to normal services, it will continue to do so.
