Croydon Ecology Centre open weekend: June 8-9

The Croydon Ecology Centre at Heathfield House is staging its summer open weekend on Saturday and Sunday, June 8-9.

The Croydon Ecology Centre at Heathfield House, with its walled gardens, extensive parkland and orchards, is open to visitors all this weekend

Open from 11am to 5pm both days, entry is free.

At 3pm each day, there is a guided tour of the grounds with the centre’s warden.

Walk the Tree Trail (with some sloped terrain) to look at Heathfield’s wonderful collections of acers, conifers and other special trees from around the world. The walk lasts approximately one hour.

There will be tours of the Ecology Centre’s Wildlife Sanctuary and Old Varieties‘ Orchard throughout both days, led by the centre manager. Suitable for wheelchair users and those with mobility difficulties.

Enjoy a traditional spinning demonstration, using wool from the centre’s sheep.

Croydon Animal Samaritans will be selling their superb collection of quality used books to raise funds for their vital work.

The Heathfield Pantry will be open both days. Enjoy morning coffee and homemade cake, ploughman’s lunches and fresh homemade soup with buttered rolls at lunchtime, and traditional cream teas in the afternoon.

A selection of Heathfield jams and marmalades will be on sale in Heathfield House. All profits go to our Wildlife Rescue and Animal Welfare Fund.
