Norbury has been transformed into Knorbury for the day.
They say: “About two months ago lots of local women of all ages and backgrounds – we asked gents to join as well but none came forward – hatched a plan to brighten up Norbury’s autumnal streets with their Knitting Norbury Together project.
“The following weeks have been spent secretly knitting squares, scarves and everything in between in all manner of shapes and sizes to sew together and hang from trees along a section of London Road.
“The idea is to surprise Norbury residents and visitors by mounting a guerrilla-style knitting installation in lots of vibrant bright colours so that when they wake up on Sunday November 1, Norbury will be transformed.”
This is the latest initiative from Love Norbury, which represents the coming together of four residents’ associations, including Scots Estate, Pollard’s Hill, Norbury Green and Norbury Village, and aims to build a sense of community spirit and respect for the neighbourhood.
The wool for today’s event has been supplied by: Hobby Craft, Gentle Giant wool, and King Cole.
