St Andrew’s Church on Southbridge Road in South Croydon has a busy few weeks ahead in the run-up to Christmas, with community events to appeal to all ages.
Later this month, on Saturday November 28, the church is staging its St Andrew’s Day celebrations, with a festival of worship followed by a buffet lunch in the church from 12 noon.
The following Saturday, from 10am to 2pm, the church hosts its fund-raising Christmas Fair. “Fun for all the family, with coffee and cakes, hot meals, craft stalls, gifts, cakes and jams to buy — and Father Christmas in his grotto.
Sat Dec 12 (10.30am-12.30pm): Messy Christingle! “Bring your kids/grandkids and watch their faces light up in the joy and candlelight of Christmas.” Also craft activities and a meal together.
Wed Dec 16 (7pm): St Andrew’s School and Community Carol Service. A service of seasonal music and readings jointly produced by the church and St Andrew’s High School. Excellent music, atmosphere and mince pies! A wonderful way to mark the run-up to Christmas.
Christmas Eve, Thu Dec 24 (3pm): A Living Crib Service: Bring your families to see the Christmas Story come to life.
Christmas Eve, Thu Dec 24 (11.3opm): Midnight Mass: spend this most holy night singing rousing carols and breaking bread together as we hear the Christmas Story.
