Stanley Halls goes all glam rock with a touch of Velvet

velvet-goldmine-posterGet ready to dust off your platforms and channel your inner-Bowie as the Stanley Halls Film Club be screening Todd Hayne’s 1998 cult classic Velvet Goldmine, starring Ewan McGregor, Christian Bale and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, on Wednesday, June 1.

Not only will get the chance to see this much-loved film, but you’ll be treated to a night of all things glam rock, with music in the bar and your chance to get a Ziggy Stardust-inspired makeover.

The film is set in 1984, when New York journalist Arthur (Christian Bale) is sent to do a story on the disappearance of glam superstar Brian Slade (Jonathan Rhys Meyers) a decade earlier. “Imagine Citizen Kane, but about Ziggy Stardust with a soundtrack featuring the Velvet Underground and T-Rex,” the club organisers say.

This is sure to be a sell-out, so book your tickets for what will be a fantastic and unique night.

Tickets are priced just £5 for members of the film club. To sign up and book your places, click here.
