#FindRobbie: Garden uses benchmark to bring home Gibson

The South Norwood Tourist Board is to mark the anniversary of the opening of the Sensible Garden – the small pocket of previous wasteland between the Goat House bridge and the Ship pub which has been transformed by volunteers in a piece of guerilla gardening – by placing a plaque on the bench which they hope will encourage Robert Gibson to come home.

Gibson is the Upper Norwood Library campaigner and one of the driving forces with the Crystal Palace Transition Town behind the Sensible Garden, who in June this year went out for a walk from his home and has not been seen since.

“We all miss him, and people have passed by and asked after him, and we need to keep up the profile of his story in the news and on social media,” said one of the Tourist Board members.

“On October 15, all Sensiblers are called to the Garden to celebrate the birth of this great community space, and to remember our mate, and wish him well, and keep our fingers crossed that one day he will return to us and his family.”

Details of times and gardening activities will be released closer to the date.
