History of Cane Hill Hospital, Bradmore Green Library, May 15

Tomorrow, Tuesday May 15, as part of Mental Health Awareness Week, local historian Pam Buttrey will be giving an illustrated talk on the history of Cane Hill Hospital.

Cane Hill, just to the south of Coulsdon, was a Victorian mental asylum which opened in 1883. At one time it had more than 2,000 patients, and it continued to treat people
for the next 115 years, until it was finally closed in 1992.

Pam Buttrey’s talk is taking place at Bradmore Green Library, from 10.30am.
