Dr Bob Gill is the guest speaker at the next meeting of the Croydon Trades Union Council, being staged next week, when he will address the issue of The Great NHS Heist.

Dr Gill, a GP working in Sidcup, has worked in the NHS for 25 years.

The Health and Social Care Act 2012 finally made clear to him that the political intention of government is to abandon the NHS and switch to the wasteful American system.

Dr Gill has seen first-hand the effect of the vandalism of local services. His patients have suffered preventable harm and some have died as a result of inadequate and overstretched services.

He will speak about the challenges faced and the threat posed to our National Health Service by privatisation that started as a slow, hidden creep, but is increasingly breaking cover and becoming a headlong gallop toward the ditch of a disjointed and bankrupt system.
• we cannot afford to let that happen
• we cannot allow ourselves to become resigned to its inevitability
• we cannot afford to stop caring for the health system and its workers – who care tirelessly for us.

In this, the 70th year of the NHS, it is in real danger.

At the meeting, there will also be a contribution from Keep Our St Helier Hospital (KOSHH) campaigner Sandra Ash.
