Stephen Aselford, a prominent Croydon activist for the protection and improvement of the rights of disabled people, died suddenly last month.

Aselford was the co-founder of Bromley and Croydon Disabled People Against the Cuts – DPAC.
In their tribute to their staunch colleague, they said, “Stephen was a socialist and an activist to his core.
“His many friends and comrades across the disability world and the Labour movement are deeply saddened but agree the best way to honour his memory is to continue the fight that was such an integral part of his life.”
The funeral and celebration of Stephen’s life will be held next Friday, October 25.
DPAC said: “We would like to invite you to join with us in celebrating the life of our son, brother, comrade and friend, Stephen Aselford, who sadly passed away in September.
“We are inviting people to wear red for the occasion to reflect both Stephen’s socialism and his love of London buses!
“All welcome to come and share your happy memories of Stephen’s life and activism.”
