Studio time: pupils from Chestnut Park Primary get to work on recording and mixing their track

The Rap Club at Chestnut Park Primary has released its first single, looking for global success and to raise money for their school while showcasing their talents to the widest audience possible.

The pupils travelled from their Board Green school to recording studios to put in hours of work and rehearsal. The track, Chestnut Park Is In Our Hearts, was released last week.

Chestnut Park are seeking to emulate the success of The Spark – a huge summer hit for a group of children in Ireland which racked-up millions of views on social media.

The Chestnut Park Rap Club has been a popular place for pupils to hone their skills while learning more about the art of making music. The club encourages the children to develop their love of language and dynamic performance.

“We are so excited that our track is now out there and available for everyone to listen to,” said Kareem Myers, the club leader.

“The children have worked very hard. They are dedicated and their creations have caught everyone’s attention.”

The track was recorded at Crown Lane Studio, where the young artists used the latest sound equipment to get the very best version of their rap. “It was lots of fun and a really amazing experience,” one pupils said.

The track is a rap devoted to life at the school and includes lines referencing the importance of learning. “You’d never be smart if it wasn’t for school,” gives a flavour of the content.
