Ofsted praises early years at Woodcote school as ‘Outstanding’

Lots to shout about: pupils at Woodcote Primary in Coulsdon were praised by Ofsted inspectors for being ‘calm’ and courteous’

Woodcote Primary, in Coulsdon, has been rated “Outstanding” for its early years provision following a recent Ofsted inspection.

The school, on Dunsfold Rise, was also given an “Outstanding” rating for personal development and for behaviour and attitudes. It received “Good” ratings for the quality of education and leadership.

Ofsted inspectors praised the school for being “welcoming and inclusive”, noting that “pupils are motivated in class and enjoy their learning”.

The Ofsted inspection, which took place in May, found that “Pupils are safe and happy here”, that “Conduct around the school is calm and pupils are courteous” and that “Reception and Nursery classes are inviting and engaging and children are keen to explore imaginative activities which build a love of learning”.

Woodcote is a four-form entry primary, with pupils aged from three to 11.

Claire Baldock, Woodcote Primary’s headteacher, said: “It’s brilliant to see that this report reflects so many of our school’s strengths. We are very proud of the supportive learning space our school provides pupils and all the opportunities they have to fulfil their potential.

“Thank you to all our hard-working staff and our parents and pupils for their ongoing support.

“We look forward to continuing to work together to provide the best possible educational experience for each child in a safe and happy learning environment.”
