Croydon Green Fair is being staged at the Garwood Foundation at 27 Bramley Hill, South Croydon, this Saturday, May 28.
To be opened at 10.30am by the new Mayor of Croydon (hopefully he won’t be too hungover after his champagne reception the night before) and will run until 4pm, the event promises to offer “inspiration for a greener lifestyle”.
More than 30 local organisations and associations are to be represented, and among the attractions are stands from RSPB London and Croydon Vegetarians, plus displays of solar products, fair trade refreshments and clothing.
Permaculture Magazine and John Lewis at Home (on the Purley Way) have both denoted products for prizes during the day.
There will also be talks given by Mark Stott from Croydon Beekeepers, advice on how to get the best from your council-sourced compost bin, and Lorraine Chatfield, the head warden from the Heathfield Ecology Centre.
There is a small admission charge, proceeds towards the Garwood Foundation Charity.
