NON-LEAGUE NEWS: Sometimes football people argue for a winter break, but AFC Croydon Athletic will welcome their journey to Chalky Lane in Chessington for their game with Epsom: if Saturday’s match gets the go-ahead it will be Epsom’s first competitive outing since December 8. The Rams have not played since January 5.
Croydon FC got back into action on Wednesday night, when they lost out to Hendon in their London Senior Cup tie to two very late goals from a pair of Wycombe Wanderers loanees in a 3-1 defeat at Croydon Arena.
Croydon Athletic are by no means certain that their game at the far-from Chalky Lane will go-ahead. The pitch is notoriously boggy, so the hard-worked groundsman will be hoping for no further rain.
Croydon FC get back into league action when they take on Camberley Town at the Croydon Arena tomorrow.
Camberley is a well-supported club that used to boast Rick Wakeman as their chairman, but they have had a poor season and lost at home to Raynes Park last Saturday.
Camberley also lost out to Badshot Lea at the turn of the year, a top ranking team that Croydon beat away, as shown in this video.
Hendon are Carshalton Athletic’s visitors at Colston Avenue in the Isthmian Premier. Carshalton are bottom of the table, and they are unlikely to have much cheer against a Hendon side strengthened by loanees from Football League and Conference sides.
Whyteleafe travel to a weak Canterbury City, with hopes of closing the gap on the table-topping teams in the Kent League.
