Warlingham rugby club has handed over more than £7,500 to Cancer Research UK, money raised at the classic car show staged at Hamsey Green in July this year.

More than 350 classic cars and 200 motor bikes came to exhibit at the event.

Steve Wakeman, a Warlingham member who organised the car show, said, “We’re delighted that we’ve raised more than last year for this very worthy charity.

“Everyone who attended has been extremely generous. Hopefully, we’ll raise a similar amount in 2017.”

At a recent club lunch, the cheque was presented by the President of Surrey Rugby, John Collins, himself also a Warlingham member, to Sheila Dickinson and Laila Zolleger from Cancer Research UK.

The charity representatives said the were amazed at the considerable amount raised on the day and, in turn, presented Mr Wakeman with a Certificate acknowledging the donation.

The 2017 Warlingham Classic Car Show will be on Sunday July 16.
