South Norwood’s movie nights include a moon shot

Stanley’s Film Club’s July programme, with screenings mostly in its new home on South Norwood Hill, has been released, and their line-up features a celebration of LGBT cinema and an incredible, little-known story of black women’s role in the Space Race at NASA.

The month begins with a special dance and movie performance, in association with The BRIT School, of Oscar-winner La La Land, being staged at St John’s Upper Norwood (click here for booking details).

Otherwise, all movies are being shown at South Norwood Conservative Club, 10 South Norwood Hill, London, SE25 6AB. Screenings begin at 8pm, unless stated.

Wed Jul 5: THE PASS
Stanley’s Film Club celebrates Pride and LGBT cinema. Two young footballers are at a famous team. and it’s the night before their first game. They should be sleeping, but they’re over-excited and out of nowhere they kiss. The impact of this “pass” reverberates through the next 10 years of their lives.

Wed Jul 12: HIDDEN FIGURES (7.30pm)

The incredible untold story of the brilliant African-American women working at NASA, who served as the brains behind one of the greatest operations in history: the launch of astronaut John Glenn into orbit.
