Add energy to your garden skills with West Croydon workshops

Come along to the gardening workshops at West Croydon over the coming weeks

Volunteers who have helped to create an energy garden on the platforms of West Croydon Station are staging a series of workshops on gardening, both to help maintain and enhance the communal garden at the station, but also offering a few handy hints for use at home or on the allotment.

West Croydon now has beautiful, brightly coloured planters filled with ferns, lamiums, bergenias, perennial geraniums, euphorbia, liriopes and skimmias.

It is one of the stations used in the Energy Garden network that has been running for two years, seeking to transform West Croydon and another 50 London Overground platforms and stations into thriving gardens that will incorporate food growing plots and solar energy providing on-site renewable energy for lighting, water pumps or other small scale station amenities.

The West Croydon workshops are as follows:

Session 1: Fri Aug 4 (2-3pm)
Session 2: Fri Aug 18 (2-3pm)
Session 3: Fri Sep 1 (2-3pm)

At the sessions you can learn how to help look after the garden, establish a user group for on-going involvement and meet other people in your community.

Everyone is welcome. The organisers say, “You do not need any existing gardening skill or experience to get involved, and all equipment will be provided. Refreshments will also be provided at the session.”
