Cane Hill builder collects hundreds of Christmas boxes

A house-builder in Coulsdon has managed to collect 452 shoe boxes laden with festive cheer for under-privileged children as part of its Operation Christmas Child appeal.

The gift-laden boxes were collected from the sales and marketing suite of Barratt Homes at Cane Hill Park last week and are now on their way around the world for children to open on Christmas day.

“Thank you to everyone who brought a Christmas shoe box along to Cane Hill Park in the last few weeks,” said Lynnette St Quintin, the sales and marketing director for Barratt Southern Counties.

“Hopefully these generous contributions will go a little way to bring a bit of Christmas cheer to children in other parts of the world.”

This is the fourth year that Barratt Homes has opened up its marketing suite to be used as a drop off point for Operation Christmas Child.

“We support many charities throughout the year and while most are local, we feel that bringing a few smiles to children’s faces across the world this again this Christmas is such an incredibly worthwhile cause,” St Quinton said.

The collection is organised through the charity Samaritans Purse, with the boxes to be processed by volunteers at a church in Redhill before despatch in time for Christmas.
