Please be aware: take extra care over malware emails

IMPORTANT: PLEASE DO NOT OPEN ANY EMAILS FROM OUR EMAIL ADDRESS WITH THE SINGLE WORD ‘DOCUMENT’ IN THE SUBJECT FIELD

Yesterday afternoon, we were made aware at Inside Croydon Towers that emails containing potential malware were being received by some of our readers from our usual email account, inside.croydon@btinternet.com.

These emails had the single-word title in the subject field – “Document” – and contained a small attachment file.

This email is not from us. If you have received it, you should delete the email immediately and certainly not open the attachment. It is suggested that you should run a scan of your anti-viral software, and perhaps also use MalwareBytes (which is freely available on t’internet).

We apologise for the inconvenience caused to anyone affected by this.

We immediately shut down our operations and have run full scans of our operating systems – a laptop – to the point where we have dealt with the issue.

Normal service should be resumed immediately, with our email system now operational again and safe to use.
