A group of people of all ages and from all walks of life gathered in silence in Queen’s Gardens on Wednesday evening in the hope of a new vision for Croydon.

Three young people from the Tabula Rasa Project held a placard saying “One Croydon – One Vision” and other residents held notices that asked for decent affordable housing in our borough; an unpolluted, safe and clean environment; high literacy levels through good education and libraries; a place where arts, drama, culture and sport are nurtured; the best possible healthcare, free at the point of delivery; transparent and respectful governance; a peaceful borough where police are respected and crime reduced; and a better place to live for all our community.
The event was organised by a group called Engage Croydon, which wanted to stage a non-political event to mark 8/8, one year on.
