High Court judge grants appeal over Crystal Palace Park plan

Ordinary residents are claiming a High Court victory after Lord Justice Jewison granted the Crystal Palace Community Association the right to have their appeal heard against a “masterplan” – backed by London Mayor Boris Johnson – to have a vast area of their local park built over with 180 private, luxury flats.

Following the hearing earlier this week, the judge agreed that the CPCA appeal should be heard at the appeal court, probably next summer.

“There is massive interest in the outcome of this court appeal, which may impact on all UK parks and open spaces,” John Payne, the CPCA chairman, said.
