Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night provides park’s summer scenes

Summer treat: some of the cast for CODA’s Twelfth Night, being staged in Wandle Park

Twelfth Night is this summer’s production at the Bandstand in Wandle Park, marking 10 years of open air theatre in the park by CODA, The Croydon Operatic and Dramatic Association.

Shakespeare’s comedy of disguise and hidden love runs from July 31 to August 3, and is the ideal treat for a summer’s evening – with seating provided and refreshments available.

To celebrate their 10th anniversary in the park, CODA are offering all tickets for the opening night performance for £10, the same price as they were in 2014.

The production is directed by CODA Chairman Michael Hall, and stars Megan Claridge as Viola, Ella McFadden as Olivia, Jamie Lumsden as Orsino, Joshua Mallalieu as Malvolio, Jasmine Stock as Feste, Simon Church as Sir Toby Belch and Rhys Davies-Santibanez as Sebastian.

“We are so excited to present such a wonderfully funny but also heartfelt play that whisks you away to Illyria,” Hall said.

“It contains some of Shakespeare’s most memorable characters and lines, all performed in the beautiful surroundings of the park as the sun sets. Let’s hope the rain does not ‘raineth every day’.

“CODA strives to make theatre as accessible as possible in the borough. We are aware that the cost of tickets for even community theatre may put off those that are struggling financially at the moment, even as we ourselves face rising production costs.

“We are particularly delighted to be able to offer tickets at the same price as 10 years ago for our opening night performance.”

Suitable for all ages, Twelfth Night runs from Wednesday July 31 to Saturday August 3 at the bandstand at Wandle Park, Croydon, with evening performances at 7.30pm, and a matinee on August 3 at 2.30pm.

Tickets are £15 for adults and £10 for children (with all tickets for the Wednesday evening performance at £10), and can be booked online at www.codashows.co.uk or by email at tickets@codashows.co.uk.
