Celebrity endorsement: Captain Sensible called Croydonopolis ‘a stonking good read’
The paperback edition of Croydonopolis has just been released, and Inside Croydon subscribers can purchase it with a special discount code
“A Journey to the Greatest City That Never Was” proclaims the cover of Will Noble’s Croydonopolis, which traces the history of our town and borough in a quirky and entertaining read.
It’s now out in paperback, with a glowing endorsement from one of Croydon’s finest, Captain Sensible.
Currently on tour in the United States with The Damned, the Captain (aka Raymond Burns) is the only punk musician ever to release a single called, simply, Croydon.
And he has described Will Noble’s biography of his home town as “a stonking read”.
“There’s history, laughs and some genuine surprises in there.”
Or as David Morgan wrote in his review of the book for Inside Croydon: “Croydonopolis is a book that will be read and discussed in a variety of groups.
“I do hope the younger Croydon generation will be enthused, for in their hands lies the future.”
