A tram has run into the buffers at the New Addington tram terminal this morning.

Police were in attendance, but no one appeared to have been seriously injured. The damage to the tram, part of the original Bombardier stock, appeared superficial.
The incident, which occurred shortly after 9.30am, seems likely to have been caused by a problem with the unit’s brakes
“The tram driver used his horn at the last moment, probably to warn passengers to brace themselves,” one eye-witness said.
“The tram then slammed into the buffers.”
The tram has incurred some minor impact damage and will be out of service for safety checking.
Services towards New Addington are temporarily terminating at King Henry’s Drive while the crashed tram is subject to TfL’s accident investigation team examination at the terminus’s main platform, while repair equipment is on the line by the second platform.
According to Tramlink, disruption for passengers should be kept to a minimum and normal service is expected to be resumed by early afternoon.
