The Poetry Project is coming to Centrale and the Whitgift shopping centres this week, to help raise awareness of tomorrow’s World Mental Health Day.
One of James McInerney’s poems on display in Centrale for World Mental Health Day
The two shopping centres will be displaying specially commissioned poems created by poet James McInerney to help spread positivity and prompt a wider conversation around mental health awareness.
McInerney’s poems have been used, poster-sized, on the London Underground, in Covent Garden, Wembley and also in the United States and Australia.
Now they are coming to Croydon. McInerney said today, “I love the idea of bringing positivity to the people of Croydon.
“World Mental Health day is incredibly important and should not to be overlooked. Displaying my poetry in the popular shopping centre of Centrale and Whitgift will hopefully spread the important message of positivity a little further in the lead up to October 10.”
David Ordman, Centrale’s general manager, said, “We’re proud to support World Mental Health Day here at Centrale and Whitgift. Hopefully in displaying these wonderful poems we will be able to spread the message of hope and optimism ahead of the day.”
The Poetry Project will be on display from October 10 to 13.
