Churchyard cordoned off following Heathfield Road stabbing

The churchyard of St Peter’s in South Croydon was cordoned off as a police crime scene all through Sunday, after the borough’s latest stabbing left a 22-year-old man with life-threatening wounds.

The Metropolitan Police were called around 7.15pm on Saturday following “reports of a stabbing on Heathfield Road”.

A Scotland Yard spokesperson said: “Officers and London Ambulance Service attended and found a 22-year-old man suffering injuries.

“He was taken to hospital where his injuries are described as life-threatening.”

No arrests have been made, and enquiries continue.
