Evacuation effort: people left nearby homes as the Fire Brigade dealt with the blaze on Davidson Road
Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to a fire at a derelict house on Davidson Road in Croydon in the early hours of yesterday morning.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Metropolitan Police and the LFB invesigators, according to a statement issued this morning by the London Fire Brigade.
The ground floor and stairs in the end-of-terrace house were completely destroyed by fire, most of the first floor of the house was also damaged by the blaze.
More than a dozen residents from neighbouring properties were evacuated, but no injuries were reported.
The Brigade was called at 2.35am and the incident was over just before 6am.
Crews from Woodside, Croydon, Beckenham, West Norwood and Norbury fire stations were at the scene.
