Take a journey back in time with Plotting the Collection exhibit

Museum of Croydon sign“‘Plotting the collection’ is our first exhibition in the Museum of Croydon’s new Exhibition Gallery at Croydon Clocktower,” the Museum’s website states.

Of course, it could also prove to be the last exhibition staged by the Museum of Croydon for a while as an accredited institution, following the ill-conceived and self-destrictive actions of Croydon Council’s politicians.

That all makes the exhibit all the more worth visiting, since it features 50 works from the Croydon Art Collection, selected to represent every corner of the borough. Use it or lose it, as they say, before Messrs Pollard and Mead have it away on their toes to flog off.

The exhibit is free and is on display in the Museum of Croydon Exhibition Gallery, ground floor, Croydon Clocktower until Saturday March 29.

There is an online gallery for the exhibit, which offers a fascinating selection of views of how Croydon looked between 100 and 200 years ago, in oils, water colours and ink drawings by local artists, including several by WW Acock.
