Power cut: TfL’s online transport update this morning
A power cut at the Therapia Lane depot has forced the closure of the entire Croydon tram network this morning, from Beckenham Junction to Wimbledon, via New Addington and Mitcham.
The closure was announced on Transport for London’s travel apps by 8.30am.
An hour later, TfL issued a formal announcement confirming the closure.
“Following a power failure this morning at Therapia Lane Depot, the London Tram network is currently suspended,” they said.
“We are working with UK Power Networks to restore service as soon as possible.

Tickets are being accepted on local London Buses, South Western Railway, Southern and Thameslink and Southeastern Railways.
TfL suggests passengers check their online travel updates before they travel or use their travel tools to help plan journeys.
The Therapia Lane depot is the nerve centre of the tram network. Built in 1998 over some former railway sidings between Therapia Lane and Beddington Lane, all tram maintenance, repairs and control functions are based there, including the system control room and a base for the British Transport Police to monitor the network.
