Croydon Committed: a good night out in an excellent cause

Comedians Kevin Day (who is not a bad football pundit, considering his unpromising start of being a Palace fan), Arfur Smiff and Jo Brand are all on stage at the Fairfield Halls on Monday week, June 14, from 8pm, for the Croydon Committed charity gig.Tickets are just £10. Call 020 8688 9291 or visit fairfield.co.uk.

There’s an interview with Jo Brand on the website of the Croydon Guardian, which although it has the date of the gig correct in the end paragraph, misleadingly refers to “this Monday” in the intro.

We’ve phoned and checked, and it is definitely on June 14 (ie. it won’t be clashing with England playing their World Cup opener on the Saturday, so that’s alright then, eh, Kev?).

Here’s Brand’s offering for a Croydon joke:

I have got this thing sent to me for women to use when they are caught between a pub and their house and don’t want to squat down. It’s called a shewee. The first thing you have to do when using it is pick which direction you are going to point it and I always say it should be towards somewhere like Croydon.
