Take a trip into the dimly lit Victorian underworld

Right on Croydon’s doorstep is a rare piece of historic underground architecture, a scaled-down version on a par with the world famous catacombs of Paris and Rome.

West Norwood is rightly proud of its magnificent Victorian cemetery, but few locals realise that they are sitting on top of one of London’s only two sets of catacombs?

Tours of this astonishing piece of the underworld are available a couple of times a year. For more details, visit The South London Post.
