Et tu, brutes: old Caesars meets a sad end

There can be few in Croydon who have not spent at least one (ill-advised?) night at the Locarno (my dad’s generation), the Cat’s Whiskers (my generation), or for the past two decades, Caesars at Streatham Hill.

Well, it’s all history now, as the developers’ bulldozers are set to move in, and the night club’s owner, Fred Batt, is selling off all the contents of the place.

This item from Streatham Pulse includes links to the appropriate websites to put in bids for the fixtures and fittings – who knows, you might end up with a stuffed tiger? – but also a nice little five-minute video tour of the place.

Well worth a look, if only for nostalgia’s sake.

Post your memories of the Locarno/Cat’s Whiskers/Caesars here…
