Congratulations to Jonathan Myall Music, the specialist flute and instrument retailers located in the Tudorbethan beamed shop in South End, who have been named Best Specialist Retailer at the Music Industries Association awards.
The shop is a treasure trove of all things musical for anyone serious about playing an instrument, or who wishes to better understand a range of composers, from Beethoven to Basie.
One thing which is particularly outstanding is the quality of service customers receive when visiting the shop – an excellent mix of expertise and genuine interest and helpfulness.
The shop has the appearance of having been a fixture forever, thanks largely because it occupies what is said to be Croydon’s oldest shop, dating from the 1500s. Myall’s actually been trading in Croydon “only” since 1998.
They are one of several outstanding independent shops in South End, including a guitar specialist, and a very good cycle shop, which all somehow manage to survive despite the Draconian parking restrictions in the area.
In a report in the Croydon Guardian, Adam Clifford, marketing co-ordinator at Jonathan Myall Music, said: “We are delighted to have won this award.
“We have worked hard at making our shop an Aladdin’s cave for flute players and it is fantastic to get national recognition.”
