The Irish-run Lansdowne Hotel is stepping in to replace Croydon Council to provide a suitable St Patrick’s Day celebration for the people of Croydon.
In a statement received at Inside Croydon Towers today, Brian Kennedy and Mark Waterstone, the people behind plans for March 17, said: “Following Croydon Council’s deeply regrettable decision to cancel the historic raising of the Irish flag and host the Civic Reception in Croydon Town Hall, the Irish business community felt it was important to celebrate and honour the infinite contribution and commitment of the Irish community in Croydon.”
The invitation is extended to all Croydon councillors and others with Irish heritage to join some of the leading figures in the Irish business people and Irish community at The Lansdowne Hotel and Lounge Bar, Lansdowne Road, Croydon, CR9 2BN, from 5pm. Apparently, there’s some sort of rugby match being shown on the television from around that time, too…
