Shirley Windmill is open to visitors this Sunday afternoon, June 3.
The Grade II-listed 19th century tower mill re-opened to the public last year after an extensive overhaul, and now the volunteers at the Friends of Shirley Windmill provide hour-long guided tours on key dates during the summer.
This Bank Holiday Sunday, the mill is open from 1 to 5pm, with the final tour of the day starting at 4pm.
Entry is free, though donations are always welcome. There is a visitor centre and shop on site, offering souvenirs, teas and refreshments.
Shirley Windmill is in Postmill Close, CR0 5DY, off Upper Shirley Road and close to Wickham Road (A232). There is car parking in Oaks Road, and buses 119, 198, 194, 130 and 466 all stop nearby.
The windmill’s other open days this year are: July 1, August 5, September 2 and 23 and on October 5.
