Michael Hall qualified thanks to votes from friends, family and fans for his mini-movie version of Robocop.

Charlie Hall’s entry is You Only Live Twice.

Both films made extensive use of the talents of other members of Croydon Operatic and Dramatic Association, the borough’s leading am-dram group, which this year celebrates its 70th anniversary.

The Halls’ entries will now go into an international round with another 20 entries from 14 counties, to be viewed and judged at a glamorous Zone 1 location on March 22 by actor Tom Hiddleston, DJ Edith Bowman and Empire‘s editor Mark Dinning.

Five films will be chosen to go forward to the grand final at the Empire Awards on March 24, when one will be chosen to win the coveted trophy.
