May the force be with you: Rugby 7s tournament launched

Does the Road to Rio begin at Hamsey Green?

With Rugby 7s an Olympic sport from 2016, the path of a budding Olympic medal-winner might just begin at Warlingham rugby club on “Star Wars day“, May 4 (“May the Force be with you” Geddit?) with their new tournament, which should be attractive for spectators as well as players as it will also feature a netball competition organised with Hilcrest Netball Club, plus a beer festival and hog roast.

Modelled on the annual Bournemouth 7s, where the Mighty Warl’s squads have enjoyed huge success on the pitch in recent years, the organisers are hoping for the support of other London clubs and a bit of decent weather for a bank holiday weekend.
