The 2015 Croydon Performing Arts Festival begins this Thursday with a dance section, which takes place at the Ashcroft Theatre.
The organisers say, “Over three days you will see some amazing performances, ending with a Dance Gala on Saturday, April 11.”
The rest of the festival takes place at venues across the borough, including Royal Russell School, Trinity School and St John the Evangelist, Upper Norwood.
“Join us at any of these venues (day ticket £3.50, season ticket £9) and enjoy seeing and hearing some of the talented 3,000-plus people who enter the festival each year, from the length and breadth of Croydon and beyond.”
The organisers are also collaborating with the Asian Music Circuit on an important and exciting project in South Asian Culture, headed by international sitar player and composer Viram Jasani.
Apart from performers being able to showcase their skills in more than 20 different disciplines, the South Asian Music and South Asian Dance sections make the Croydon Performing Arts Festival unique. There will also be talks on the AMC project (“The Life and Art of Women in North India”), as well as auditions in due course for musicians, dancers, singers and actors to take part in this project.
The festival ends on Saturday May 9 with a Final Night Concert in Trinity School Concert Hall, with top performers from across the festival.
