Barry Fantoni, the world-famous cartoonist and writer whose work has been published widely over six decades, will be staging a special event hosted by Hale Man, the artist in residence at her ground-floor artist studio in the Whitgift Centre, on Saturday June 27.
This is a free event, but places are limited and you need to reserve yours in advance.
London-born Fantoni has worked as a script-writer (including for That Was The Week That Was), art critic for The Times, record reviewer for Punch, author, comic strip cartoonist and jazz musician. He is probably most famous for his work Private Eye, including the creation of Neasden FC with its two notorious fans, Sid and Doris Bonkers.
“I did a daily cartoon for The Times for years”, he said, “and I was told that it would kill me and it very nearly did. It is hard work being funny.”
The format for an audience with Barry Fantoni is…
2pm-3pm Barry Fantoni talks about his cartoons for Private Eye and cartooning life.
3pm-5pm A portrait of Barry Fantoni, an opportunity for you to create a portrait of the famous artist.
It’s an incredible opportunity and a chance to take part in a fun and memorable afternoon.
