Stanley Halls: will soon to get daytime activity through a coffee shop

Coffee Craft will operate for 10 weeks, run by the husband and wife team of Michelle and Nick Shaw – actor Nick having just returned from performing in the RSC’s Broadway productions of Wolf Hall and Bring Up The Bodies.

Michelle Shaw also has a background of working in theatre creative arts and costume, and she intends to bring her skills as a seamstress to the coffee shop by offering craft workshops at their exclusive “Crafternoon Tea”.

Starting on July 27, Coffee Craft will offer high-quality and affordable coffee, tea and other beverages, complimented by delicious cakes and a daily menu including homemade quiche, soup, sandwiches and snacks. There will vegetarian and gluten-free options, and many of products will be locally sourced: the cakes will come from Sophie’s Cake Studio,  based in Sydenham.

“Coffee Craft will provide a relaxed and friendly environment for everyone in South Norwood to enjoy, working with the Stanley People’s Initiative to continue establishing Stanley Halls as a centre for community interaction and celebration,” Michelle Shaw said.

The project is supported by The Prince’s Trust, and it will work alongside Stanley Halls in promoting the regeneration of the area while offering an additional daytime facility to their events programme. “I’m so excited about this venture,” Shaw said. “After our own experience and speaking with many locals, this is just what the area needs.”

Initially opening 10am to 4pm, Monday to Friday, Coffee Craft will be developing a calendar of events and sessions to cater to a range of community groups within South Norwood. It will offer free wi-fi, be family friendly, wheelchair accessible, dog-friendly, and also has outside space for customers to enjoy.
